Themes emerge in submissions to consultation on changes to New Zealand’s research system

When New Zealand’s Minister for Research, Science and Innovation, Megan Woods, opened the door to a comprehensive reform of the country’s research funding systems, she may not have realized what the sector had to say.

Woods’ 80-page “green paper”, titled Te Ara Paerangi Future Pathways, presented ideas for the future of New Zealand’s research system when it was published in October 2021.
